What is GigaMedia doing to grow the company? |
| A: |
In April 2004, the company began to develop an online entertainment growth platform, acquiring CESL, a privately held gaming software developer and application service provider. In January 2006, GigaMedia acquired FunTown, a leading Asian online games operator and one of Taiwan’s largest online MahJong game sites. In December 2006 we entered into a strategic alliance with Infocomm Asia Holdings Pte Ltd, an operator and distributor of online games in Southeast Asia, and in July 2007, we acquired an interest in T2CN, one of China's leading online casual sports game operators. In December 2007 we also entered into strategic alliances with game development studios Neostorm Holdings Limited and XLGames Inc. Management believes that these strategic transactions have strengthened the Company's online entertainment product portfolio and distribution of leading online entertainment content. GigaMedia expects that the gaming software of CESL and the online games offered by FunTown and T2CN will provide the Company attractive platforms that can be used to provide a range of entertainment services and grow GigaMedia. |
